When Ohio High School Athletic Association member schools passed a proposal to use competitive balance to help determine postseason classifications for a group of sports that included football and boys and girls basketball, it brought a long-heated debate to an end. Member schools voted on competitive balance proposals in and , but both times, the propositions were soundly defeated. By the time the idea was brought back for a vote in , momentum had been building for years because of a perceived imbalance of state championships won by non-public schools. Each year from , member schools voted on proposals that ultimately failed. The resolution was tweaked again and finally passed in May before being put into practice for the school year.

Ohio Amateur Golf Tournaments
Junior Amateur Championship at Inverness Club. The tournament was suspended for nearly three hours during the opening round Monday, but following the first round of stroke play, Californian William Mouw and Australian Karl Vilips share the lead after both carded rounds of 2-under Fessler, who recently claimed the Minnesota Golf Association Mixed Amateur Team Championship with partner Sophia Yoemans, began his opening round on the 10 th hole made birdie at the 12 th before a string of bogeys put Fessler at 3-over par through nine holes. Caleb VanArragon, from Blaine, Minn.
